Intelligent Control Unit for a Stud Finder
A stud finder is a device used in the construction industry to locate studs in the walls like cables and metals. It relies on sensors that detect changes in the dielectric constant of the wall. Students work on the electronics design of such devices.
Piezo Material Experiments
This an exercise in working in the intersection between engineering and science. An electronics engineer has designed a device to work with a certain material; the scientist is synthesizing the material to comply with the device requirements; the students run the experiments and provide feedback to both the scientists and the engineers. Then the engineer modifies the electronics and the scientist modifies the material till the device works as required. Connected Thermal and Optical Cameras Solutions
Students work together with a professional engineering team that designs and develops Thermal and Optical Camera Solutions with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The project includes research on the wireless connectivity ICs and camera specifications as well as design and development of electronics, firmware and mechanical enclosure of the camera.
BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING CLUB
Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulator
Students create the schematic of the device, design the electronics board, the housing and the electrodes of the device. They procure all the components and parts, build a working proof of concept breadboard. Then they write the firmware and test the breadboard with a few persons for their response.
Infant Incubator Controller
Students work together with a professional engineering team on the design and development of a Controller of Infant Incubator that includes Embedded Software, Electronics and Mechanical Sub-Systems. The main objective of the Controller is to read from all the sensors in the incubator (Humidity, Temperature, Oxygen Level, etc...) and to control the subsystems impacting the environment inside incubator. Automotive ECU Production Test System
Students work together with a professional engineering team on the design of a measuring system for automotive Engine Control Units. Automotive RADAR Production Test System
Students work together with a professional engineering team on a design of a Production Test System for the Automotive RADARs. The functionality of the system includes radiofrequency measurements, RADAR target simulation, mechanical rotary systems designs, anechoic chamber design and overall system design that will fit into automated production line of the RADARs for the end-of-line testing.
